The Ethan James Firman Forever Fund
Our love for him was so great, that there aren't enough words to describe it. And the sense of loss is equally profound. He was an amazing boy who had a smile that could light up the darkest room. His energy, his laugh, his presence were truly unique and the void that has been left behind will never be filled.
All we are left with are cherished memories, beautiful photographs and a sense of pride that we shared the same moment in time when Ethan ruled the world.
We are also left with a goal and a purpose. With the help of family and friends and strangers, we aim to raise vast sums of money for Meningitis UK. Ethan was struck down with Meningococcal Septicaemia and vanished from our lives within 24hrs. This destructive disease needs to be eradicated. For us, the best way to honour our son's life is to make a difference and help prevent Meningitis in the future. We look forward to your support. Any help or donation will be warmly received.
Thank You.

My Favourite Memories of Ethan: By Auntie Alicia
Wow, what a wonderful nephew you really where and I believe that in spirit you still are...
I can still remember me and Auntie Danii on the eve of your birth ringing each other in anticipation "have you heard any news yet?...has Andrew rang?..."
Eventually the news came that you "Ethan James Firman" had been born..... we were all ecstatic!!!!!
Meeting you for the first time at your home with Mummy, Daddy, Jack, Auntie Danii and Uncle Brian was amazing. We couldn't believe how small you were and ever so cute! I clearly remember your Mummy changing your nappy and noticing how tiny your lickle legs were.....wow!
I remember you coming to visit on Rhiannons' 5th Birthday and you were overcome by loud noise and a room full of people, but that didn't phase you and you were quite happy sat on your Mummys' knee. A great memory for me on that day is that I noticed how blue your eyes were...wow!
I remember in summer 2007 when you came to visit, Eve was sat in her baby nest and you were trying to dive in and out of it while she was just sat there watching you, wondering what you were doing. Ethan you showed no fear when it came to rolling, tumbling, climbing, crawling....wow!
I remember us all going on holiday to Center Parcs, Whinfell in August 2007 when you were standing up and walking along the furniture and we kept getting anxious as you ventured near the patio....you just kept giving us those little frowns that meant "but why can't I go and explore out there?"...
Swimming was the best, you loved it and your Mummy was quick to show me how well you could swim, even amongst the waves. You loved the warm waters of the baby pool playing with Eve and Tom and sitting under the waterfalls - Rhiannon was busy sliding somewhere?? Such lovely memories from that holiday...
I remember you visiting on a Saturday with your Mummy and sometimes Daddy too and you came to play and had lots of fun with your cousins.....you loved bouncing on the beds even though you couldn't quite jump and your laugh was infectious. You loved to follow Poppy-cat everywhere and pointing at him saying 'MEOW'. You loved to climb on the chairs and then even on to the table...Mummy would take you down saying "Ethan, no climbing on there" and before she had finished saying her words you were back up on the chair, poised ready to get on the table, with a cheeky smile on your face...
I remember your 1st Birthday party and what a lovely Cookie Monster cake you had...wow! You, Eve and James were all playing in your ball pool and it looked like lots of fun. A quad bike is what I think you got and wow could you get about on it....you were amazing!!!
I could keep on writing more and more but I'm sure there won't be enough space on your webpage.....
So many fond memories of you Ethan x We miss you each and every day x
Love you so much,
Auntie Alicia, Uncle Brian, Rhiannon, Thomas & Eve xxxxx
and Poppy-cat of course xxx

Well little man were do i start! there are thousands of memories which i will cherish forever, its hard !!
But they are all still fresh in my head as if it was just yesterday that i saw you.
Like the time when you waved at me when i was leaving your home when i had been visiting you, stood there in the window, lips against the glass making more cleaning up for mummy) i was walking to the car i turned round an you waved so cute at me. It was just a bend of the fingers wave but it was so nice to see , it made me giggle inside.
And the thousands of times you used to pop in work to see me, you used to help me sweep up (such a good helper always willing to learn). And robbing my fresh baked bread what had taken me half the morning to bake, yeah my little monkey comes along takes a footlong bread, toddles off sits on the stairs (and yep, as you guessed) chomping away on
it as if he had never seen food before. But he looked as though he was enjoying it and that was the main thing!
He would pretend to answer the phone saying 'YEAH' in his own little Ethan way. He used to love pointing at different things and saying 'THERE' or 'ROAR'!
The time when we went to Alton Towers we sang in the car on the way there
1 little 2 little 3 little monkeys, 4 little 5 little 6 little monkeys (he laughed and smiled like he awlays did) when auntie dee dee sung that silly song!
Clare and Andrew had taken him to chester zoo so many times he would bring me back presents like monkey's on keyrings, there so much appreciated because you can imagine him in the sovernier shop pointing to which toy he wanted to get me, and clare would say ethan picked that himself for you, well even that would bring a tear to your eye.
There are so many memeories of ethan all amazing ones's. Too many to write about as we don't have that much space to use but i could go on and on for weeks, months, years.
Ethan James there isn't a day goes by that i wish you could just be here smiling and laughing, i was so close to you and as an Auntie i felt like a Mother. You are always in my thoughts
and you will always be here in my heart
all my love forever and always

I remember the day you were born - I worked at the hospital and so, was lucky enough to see you and your Mummy when you were just about three hours old - what joy!!
I remember taking you with your Daddy, Granddad, Uncle Mike and Cousin James to see the deer at Dunham Massy, it was a lovely warm day and your Daddy was upset that I gave you some of my ice cream on my little finger. I also let you walk on the grass and play football, me swinging you at the ball - that was OK, Daddy was impressed, trials for Everton beckoned.
I remember going to visit one day on my early finish after work and your Daddy was feeding you in your high chair, and you were really enjoying it, saying “Mmmmmm” after every mouthful!
I remember trying to teach you to crawl - you nearly had it, but not quite. As I scampered across the floor you looked at me with YOUR LOOK "Oh, do grow up Grandma. I'll do it when I'm ready". The next time you came to visit you could do it - so I had a race with you. I stayed behind you saying "I'm going to get you" and you looked round a few times to see if I was catching you up and then when you got to the door you collapsed in a heap giggling.
I remember when you started to walk - you would head for the television, hands outstretched, only to be told "No, no Ethan, don't touch" - then you would put your hands behind your back and carry on towards the television (or the bookcase with glass doors which I was always frightened of you crashing into). Then we would have to distract you with something else.
I remember taking you with your Mummy and Granddad to Tatton Park. You went on the swings and slides and then to the farm. Mummy and I loved the one-week old baby piglets and thought you should too, but you wanted to go and see the hens instead. You made clucking noises and flapped your wings at them. Then you saw a pussy cat and followed it all around the farmyard. You liked the horses, cows and goats too, but not the pigs, oh no!
I remember you on holiday in Spain with us all, Mummy and Daddy showed us how you could swim under water!!! Then drying off and sleeping under the shade like a little angel.
I remember us all going to Auntie Jens at Easter and you going into the garden with James, Dan and Abi to collect Easter eggs – you were more interested in causing mayhem with the croquet hammers than collecting eggs!!!
So many lovely memories, such a lot of laughter and smiles
Miss you so much.
Love always.
Grandma xxxxx

This is impossible how can I try to select just one favourite memory of such a beautiful, wonderful, happy, smiling grandson whose smile would always fill my heart with gladness.
From that first moment of seeing him when he was just born and holding him for the first time, to watching him grow into a happy, loving little toddler always smiling that beautiful smile. Such wonderful and important memories that will be with me forever.
I remember the first time we had him overnight with us, good as gold, woke up for his 3am bottle, we couldn’t get the bottle fast enough so he made his displeasure known, soon as we got our act together and he had his bottle, a quick burp, him not me, then back to sleep till the morning.
Having the pleasure of sharing a holiday with all the family in Spain, no prizes for guessing who was the star of the show. Dressed in his little wet suite in and out of the water, splashing around and laughing. Going out for dinner, we first had him sitting at the table in his buggy and he wasn’t to happy about that, as soon as mum had the good sense to get a high chair so he could sit and see us all, he was his usual happy smiling self, lording it over all of us.
The excitement of his first birthday and Christmas him sitting there surrounded by wrapping paper and presents, with that look on his face as if to say, I like this.
Like most little boys he had a fascination with dinosaurs. I remember being at his house and he would run up with a plastic dinosaur in his hand and growl, I would pretend to be scared and shake my arms around in fright. He would laugh and giggle run off then come back for more.
I know mum and dad wanted a favourite memory but I just can’t choose. My everlasting memory will be of a wonderful, happy little boy who had the ability to make everybody feel uplifted just with that lovely smile and cheeky twinkle in his eye.
It goes without saying that Ethan will always be in our hearts and he will be loved and cherished forever.
Lots of love little man, Grandad xxxxx

I have hundreds of beautiful memories of Ethan. To list a few; his first family holiday abroad in Spain, the time we took him to Formby Beach in his last week with us, his first words, walks, and his his first smiles all fill by heart with happiness.
There is one memory for me, that stands out above all the others. Ethan started nursery around the time of his 1st birthday. Twice a week he would be dropped off by me or his mum and picked up a few hours later. He never slept there like the other children. Instead, his relentless engery kept the nursery girls on their toes as he played with every toy he could get his hands on. He made many friends and at Christmas time he got more cards than the two of us put together.
The memory that means so much to me happened about a month or two before he died. It would have been a tuesday morning as Clare had gone to work. He walked up the steps holding me by the hand. Once we were in, Ethan hung up his coat and everton bag on his designated clothes peg. As we passed through to the main room, he was surrounded by 3 or 4 other children. One of the boys shouted out "yeah, Ethan's here." 3 simple words but i was filled with overwhelming pride. It told me that my son was popular and well liked by his friends.
Many of the other memories were created by us as parents. Had we not taken him to the beach, we wouldn't be able to cherish those moments. Had we not taken him for a day out in Liverpool, then we wouldn't have taken so many wonderful photos. This memory was Ethan's gift to me. It told me that whatever hapened behind the closed doors of nursery, he must have been doing something right. It told me that he was independent, popular and most of all, cool (just like his dad). Most of all it filled me with confidence, knowing that Ethan was a strong character and that he would be fine growing up in the world. I left him behind and walked out with the biggest smile on my face. A simple memory, but one that will stay with me forever.
I will love (and miss) you forever my Son. Dad xxx
