Jessica's Sponsored Kilimanjaro climb - July 2012 FundI have been given the amazing opportunity to go on an expedition to Tanzania for three weeks in July of this year. During this time I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, a 5 day trek to a height of 5,895 m, I believe that it will be once-in-a-lifetime experience and to make it even more worthwhile, have decided to make it a sponsored trek.
Meningitis can be fatal; each week six families have to face the sudden tragedy of losing a loved one to this devastating disease. Meningitis UK aims to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis and every penny counts towards this goal.
I did not know Hannah personally, but have heard about her story from those who were fortunate enough to. From what I’ve heard and read she sounds like a truly inspirational person and I feel privileged to have this opportunity to honour her memory and to raise money for this incredible cause.
I’ve set myself a target of £100 but hope to raise as much money as possible, so please donate.
Thank you for visiting my page.
Just an update for anyone who happens to be visiting my page. I did it! one of only 4 of the group of 20 that attempted to summit kilimanjaro. The expedition took place for three weeks in july (2012) and whilst there, aswell as raising money for meningitis uk i was able to do a weeks voluntary work in a local school, helping to renovate it and to help the children with their english. I have managed to raise over £100 in memory of Hannah and for Meningitis uk's 'search 4 a vaccine' campaign from sponsorship for my climb. I hope Hannah's memory and spirit will live on through family and friends support for the cause.
